If you already have hardwood floors and they are looking a little worse for wear, then refinish them for an increase in the value in your house almost immediately.

If you are willing to do a larger and more expensive renovation that is sure to increase the value of the home, then you can add an additional bathroom to one of the levels of your house or add one in your basement. You can also upgrade your bathroom by putting in a new shower or bathtub or upgrading to a tile floor.

The most important room in your home to increase value is your kitchen. Along with the living room, most people spend the majority of their time in the kitchen, cooking and entertaining. If you really want an increase in your home's value, then invest in creating a modern, fresh kitchen. This could mean modern cabinets and fixtures and bright lighting, especially if your kitchen has limited windows and new appliances.
